:Strabismus

Any deviation from the correct alignment of the eye is called Lochia or strabismus.

Strabismus is the lack of coordination of eye muscle movements on the inability to focus between two eyes , which causes the eyes to move in different directions.

This disease is one of the most common ophthalmological  problems and is seen in children and adults.

:Common symptoms 

.inconsistency of eyes movement (in some cases , it is only visual when looking in certain directions)

.Squint (Strabismus)

.vision with only one eye with a lack of deep perception .

.Eye fatigue

:Reasons of Strabismus 

The movement of the eye around is controlled by six muscles, around the eye and commanded by the brain. Lack of coordination is due to following:

In balance of muscles around the eyes.

Lack of the ability to focus same in the eyes.

Brain injury or head injury.

 Without immediate treatment , vision loss one eye may be permanent .so ,loss of natural vision in one eye and beauty appearance many people are adapted to one eye vision and  learn to do all their activities such as driving with one eye .

:Ways of treatment

Close stronger eyes to correct Amblyopia.

Eye muscle exercise .

Prescribe glasses with appropriate refractive power.

Prescribe glasses containing a Prizma

Botulinum poison injection

Muscle surgery outside the eyeball

In strabismus surgery , the operation is performed on the muscles around the eye that are attached to the whites of the eyes .the purpose is align the eyes and good functioning of movement of two eyes.

:Postoperative care

There is often no need for hospitalization after surgery.

Eye dressing can be removed from a few hours to a day after operation, according to the doctor’s opinion.

Visit for examinations on scheduled dates.

Praying with Tayammum is not problem with (the opinion of the doctor) from the day of the operation .

Redness of the eyes is normal and swelling and redness or expected to decrease a few days after surgery.

Ask you doctor , the time of take a bath

Studying ,watching tv ,and normal life activities as well as sleeping toward operated eye is not problem from the day after operation.

Avoid swimming for ,four weeks

Avoid lifting heavy things and straining for the first 1-2 weeks after surgery.

In the postoperative days ,if you have redness and eye pain , sensitively to light and high vision loss ,visit a doctor immediately.

Travelling by car ,plane or any vehicle is unrestricted after operation

:The correct way to use eye drops 

To use eye drops , first wash your hands with soap and water , bend eye drops , pull your lower eyelid down it your finger to make a small hole ,and in the hole ,avoid connect of the dropper tip with the eyes ,gently close your eyes for 2-3 minutes after dripping.

This will improve the observation of the drug and reduces side effects , if you need to due two different drops in one time , take a gap of 5-10 minutes between them.
