Retinal surgery is used to treat retinal diseases (inner lining of the eyeball)and its sepration from the underlying layer.

Retinal detachment seriously causes vision loss,and the goal of retinal surgery is reattach the retina in the first step.

 

:Eye protection

You can use glasses during a day and shield at night,the shield is washable and dry it dairy then put it on you eye use the shield for 1 to 2 week after surgery to protect to blow your eyes.

:Activity rate

If you follow the head position ordinary activites like : walking, study, watching tv, avoid strong and boring activities such as running, areabic, swimming for 2 months, lifting 5 kg or more and sextual activities for up to 2 weeks.

:Eye drops

It us necessary to take eye drop more than 1 to 2 months after the operation .do not discontinue or take the medication for more time.

Try to use the drops at the time set by your doctor.you do not need to wake up at 5-6 hours to drop the drops,but it is better to ask your octor.

Try to keep the opend drop at normal temperature of 25-30 degrees Celsius and use it up to 3 weeks after opening the drop cap.avoid freezing the drop or putting it to extreme heat.

:Correct way to use eye drops

-first, wash your hand correctly with soap and water,bend your head back slightly,pull your lower eyelid down with your index finger.so make a small hole,then pour a drop into the hole.

Close your eyes for 2 or 3 times after dripping

If you need use different drops at the same time ,take 5 or 10 mintues between them.

Be sure to see an opthalomogist if you have symptoms such as redness,sensitivity,pain,purulent and severe eye irritation.

:Travel after operation

Travel by car and train is unvesticted.

Travel by plane and go to hights (use of high tower elevators and mountaning…) if the eye contain gases, its usually forbidden.

:Type of sleep after retinal surgery

notice:how to position the head and how to rest after retinal surgery is very important in the successful after surgery.the resting position is according to the retinal detachment and the details of the surgery and will be explaind to you by sergeion.depending on the type of operation , lying on stomach recommended.in this only the position of forehead and face should be down and the patient does not force to sleep on his/her stomach.

After retinal surgery, due to the type of surgery and the observance of the resting position ,the eyelids usually swell is naturally and sticky or bloody comes out of the eye.this condition is especially seen the day after surgery and lasts up 1 or 2 weeks after surgery.

:Pray

:Take a bath after operation

Be sure to ask your doctor when to take a bath.the first day after he operation ,wash your whole body except your head and face.

It is usually recommended if retinal surgery is not associated with complication.you can take a bath a week after the operation ,but when washing your head and face,you should close your eyes and do not press on the eyelid.it is better to use baby shampoo for 2 or 3 months.

:Make up material

avoid using cosmetics (kohl, mascara, falseeyelashes, colored lenses, oily substances around the eyes,…) for at least a months.

:Diet

  This diseases and that’s surgery do not have a special diet and if you had special diet before the operation (diabetes,high blood pressure,ulcers peptic…)continue the same diet after the operation .there is also the possibility of constipation after surgery due to the use of some drugs during anesthesia..use the fiber and vegtables in your diet.

:Follow up after operation

Please refer to the exact dates for the examination.gaiting vision usually takes several months after csurgery ,it depends on whether the retina ia attached and the refractive error created corrected.

Attention to the success of the operation is reattaching the retina does not necessarity mean improved vision.improving vision in addition to retinal paste again depends on other  factors,the most important of which is the amount of damage to the visual cells.

There is possibility of retinal detachment after surgery.see an ophthalomogist immediately if you have decrease visioin,a feeling of redness in the eye or ablurred area of vision o spark in the eye.
